Paper processing applications
Use Examples of GOHSENOL™ in Paper Processing
GOHSENOL™ has been widely used as a paper surface treatment resin. For example, it is used for surface coating (Western paper and paperboard) and special paper (thermal paper, ink jet paper, and release paper).
Because each grade has different characteristics, it is possible to provide various characteristics to paper via coating.
As listed below, GOHSENOL™ can be used for various paper processing applications.
(The table lists applications for paper processing, properties, and recommended grades provided by Mitsubishi Chemical.)
Applications | Properties | Recommended Grades of GOHSENOL™ and GOHSENX™ |

Effects of GOHSENOL™ Expected in Paper Processing
GOHSENOL™ provides paper with, for example, improved strength, printability, smoothness, and surface gloss.
Practical effects expected through paper processing with GOHSENOL™ are as follows.
(a) Improved strength
– Surface strength (printability)
– Z-axis strength (strength within the paper layer)
– Folding resistance
– Abrasion resistance
(b) Improved smoothness
(c) Improved surface gloss
(d) Improved oil resistance and solvent resistance
By improving oil resistance and solvent resistance, it is possible to produce products as indicated in the photos below.
